The modules and patches in the Vintage Vault 2 are hands down the BEST sampled/Synth library I HAVE EVER HEARD. I have to say that although Kontakt has the greatest amount 3rd party libraries and the biggest following of any soft-sampler, UVI not only sounds better sonically, the effects are also better sounding, they also do a phenomenal job with sound design for their sponsored libraries. I suspect the UVI playback engine is indeed better than Kontakt's, while some suspect that its the effects. This is coming from someone whos been working extensive with both for years (been using Kontakt since v2).

UVI libraries (for a lack of better term) sound more ' Alive' in comparison. Am I just hearing things? You're not just hearing things, UVI Libraries DO sound noticeably better than Kontakt libaries. I love Kontakt and find it to sound very nice, but again, UVI libraries just seem to stand out to my ears. I think it's a fine synthesis engine personally. Is it just me, or does UVI sound a bit better than Kontakt? Every time I load up a UVI library, it seems to stand out to my ears in comparison to Kontakt libraries. Before losing my mind on modular stuff I used omnisphere building the sound from the ground up in the synthesis section for a dirtied up sine bass thing on a project, really happy with it. As far as it goes I do use trillian some still before getting into sound design on a project. They went verry produced in omnisphere - but there are many many good presets there. I own omnisphere and trillian and find trillian to be more meat & potatoes and omnisphere more esoteric as far as the samples and presets go. Not just sample-based but certainly a shitload of that. All your basic and beyond waveform stuff is there with a pretty kickass modulation bus, and a ton of filters to choose from. Definitely not just a rompler, to say it isn't a synth at all - just not the case. Well it does have a very good synthesis engine, but it is set up in layers so is maybe not the easiest workflow. So - it does sound like in essence, it isn't a synth at all - basically a rompler with a huge sample library with nice fx? I just can't bring myself to use sampled libraries from synths.I don't even like to use emulated 'real' instruments at all.
